The latest buzz on the business!
posted by Kristen on April 15, 2007 @ 12:42AM
La Dolce Vita, LLC is continuing to grow, slowly but surely! After netting a little over $2000 in sales from our promotion at our workplace (afterhours, of course!) we set up shop at the home-based business fair this weekend at the local mall. Today we sold another $1750, and we hope to do well tomorrow as well (since it's supposed to rain!) We're feeling pretty good and are looking into other exhibitions in the area.
I've been updating the website almost daily. I can see how that is a full-time job! I set up the purchasing section--although for now I cannot set up a "shopping cart" function with our current hosting package. We'd have to upgrade quite a bit for that. I also put in a statcounter (statcounter.com) to track my unique hits. We got almost 30 today from the promotion!
I contacted Yahoo and Google to have them send "webcrawlers" to our site (Thanks Geoff!) Still can't pull it up through the browsers though. I also added a couple ads, though I'm still debating whether it's worth it. If you guys have any more thoughts on what I can do better I'd love it! We've really taken all your suggestions to heart!
I have to say, for my first attempt, this website is not too stinky. I surprised myself! www.ladolcevitaonline.net
Hope everybody had a good Easter!

Website is live!
posted by Kristen on March 30, 2007 @ 3:45PM
www.ladolcevitaonline.net is live! Check out my first attempt at webpage design, and brace yourself for a good laugh! I noticed that even after first previewing it, there are some formatting issues I need to resolve. (spacing mostly)
I'm pretty stoked! Now to set up the shopping cart, which I hope I can do through yahoo. I'm dreading that because I have a feeling that it's going to be hairy! We have a paypal account, business cards, a bank account, and just got the kit to be able to take credit cards at functions. So far so good.
I'd love to get suggestions on the site, but just keep in mind my abilities! Geoff, thanks for the tip on yahoo hosting--it was wicked cheap and gave me free user-friendly software to create the site.

New business advice
posted by Kristen on March 18, 2007 @ 6:28PM
Some of you may have heard that I'm going into business with several of my co-workers. I know what you're thinking, and yes, we're nuts! Our company is named La Dolce Vita, LLC. and our website will be LaDolceVitaOnline.net. Basically we found these cool purses and have had a lot of luck haucking them at work, so we decided to expand. They're made of a nice leather and have a fabric covered inset that divides all your purse contents so your stuff is always handy. The good news is that the initial investment is minimal, and the worst case scenerio is that we sell these babies at cost. We've got our tax id and bank account, and we our license will arrive shortly. April 1st is our start of business.
I bought the domain name (through GoDaddy), and now I'm exploring what to do next. I know that we will need to host the website and then build it. Suggestions anyone? We'll definitely be keeping it simple to start, and we've got permission to use the pictures from the inventors. (www.butlerbag.com) I think that we'd like to be able to let people order the purses through our website eventually (we do have permission for this), but maybe have them redirected to an ebay store or something so we can use paypal...For now though, if you guys have suggestions on how to go about buying a hosting service/package and how much it should run me let me know. Go daddy offers some different things but I'm not sure how much to buy....Thanks!
