I hope everyone is planning to vote this year (and every year--it's an important responsibility).

Here's a few neutral political fact-checking sites: one for Obama, one for McCain.

Here's a favorite of mine--while the author definitely leans Dem, he keeps his main page neutral. His main page is a combination of the current Electoral Vote map, based on current polls, and general election news covering Presidential, House and Senate races. I may take the George Carlin approach to voting this year. I'm not liking either of these folks so far. McCain can't operate a computer, let alone a country, and I'm still looking for the meat under Obama's skin. He has the right image though, and if he picks Biden as VP...I may be swayed as I liked Biden myself.

Voting is often choosing the lesser of two evils. Not voting is a cop-out for failing to make a decision or care...and honestly, if you don't vote, than you sure as hell can't complain about the government later. This is supposed to be a government of the people, elected by the people. It's generally less than that, mostly due to voter apathy, which in turn allows all sort of shenanigans to go on unpunished.

Don't bet on Biden. Mr. Foot in Mouth is a huge liability, no matter his political views and savvy skills. I'm betting on Bayh or Kaine, myself.

Meat under Obama's skin? You mean thicker skin, or ideas with some meat? :) Truthfully, Mr. Agent of Change needs some details after the word Change. He also must face up to the fact that elections in this country thrive on negativity. If he lets McCain set that tone, McCain will win the election. That assumes McCain doesn't self-destruct first (how many houses DO you have, Senator?).

Whoever he picks as his running mate, it's going to be totally anti-climatic since it won't be Hillary. I would have been happy with Kaine, but he got the dreaded phone call today. Or did Obama let him know via text message? If only we could vote by text message, then we'd really be in the 21st century. And since most people who would vote for McCain don't know how to text message, we know that would seal the deal for Obama. hummm...maybe I'm on to something here!

If you could vote by text message, Ron Paul would win. The "rondroids" as GJ likes to call them (and a few other misguided souls) would bombard the system.
