Online Family Gaming?
posted by GJ on March 22, 2007 @ 2:50PM
Eventually, the Wii will get multiplayer capability...and you'll all get Wiis, but till that time, most of us have computers!
Geoff, Steve and I have played multiplayer Civ and Alpha Centauri in the past--lots of fun, but very time consuming.
Still, it's fun to do--maybe we could schedule game days to do just that for a specified amount of time, and use the blog to coordinate the who/what/where/when details.
We've just picked up Neverwinter Nights Diamond, and from what I can see, it allows you to build you own adventures and then play as the Dungeon Master with others being the players (yes, this game uses Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition rules). That could be fun!
Other games I have that are decent multiplayer:
Freelancer
Civ IV
Alpha Centauri
Dungeon Siege I / II
Neverwinter Nights
Railroads
... (there are more, just can't think of them offhand)
Any interest?

July 4 plans
posted by GJ on May 28, 2007 @ 9:35PM
So, with July 4th being a Wednesday this year, most of us probably have just Wednesday off this year. For those of us possibly going to Mom & Dad's, would you be taking off Mon-Tues that week, or Thurs-Fri? Or not coming at all? I'd prefer Thurs-Fri, but I'm flexible. How 'bout you folks?

Don't forget, Father's Day is this sunday! I thought it was last week, so I was really prepared, although I still just managed to put a card in the mail today.

Upcoming Syracuse Get-together
posted by GJ on July 25, 2007 @ 10:57AM
So, without being too specific about dates, who will be in town for the shower? We should arrive Friday night. As usual, we'll bring the Wii with Wii Sports, Wii Play, Big Brain Academy, Mario Party 8, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Resident Evil 4, Excite Truck, and maybe our "equivalent" of Guitar Hero...Donkey Konga! We have four sets of kongas, which make that a blast. I'll also bring our favorite board game of the moment, Ticket To Ride. Any other requests? I've heard rumors of a golf outing on Sunday...I'll see if I can squeeze my clubs in my car, just in case.

Congrats, Geoff and Michelle--what a wonderful day yesterday was. We all had a great time! We're also glad to add another new member to the ever growing Baumbach clan--so welcome, Michelle! If we come across any great pics on our camera, we'll post 'em.

Latest news!
posted by Kristen on February 19, 2008 @ 3:29PM
Hi all! Long time no talk! I have a few tidbits to share: 1. Cousin Joe and Liz are expecting! Their baby is due I think a month after Michelle and Geoff's, which by the way, is (probably) of the female variety. 2. I joined the ranks of the rest of the Baumbach's who wear glasses! I think a bunch of you saw how I couldn't see "Are you smarter than a fifth grader" on our living room TV this past Christmas--but then I put Steve's glasses on and waalaa! I could see! For now I'm only going to use them to drive. Now that I have them and can see the difference when I drive (especially at night) it freaks me out that I was on the road without them. I'm pretty blind! My eye doctor said that without glasses I am "barely" legal to drive in Virginia. Nice. 3. My school started a club hockey team this year, and I volunteered to be the school liason for the club. It's kind of like Marc' Solvay team from HS, where we partner with another HS to have enough team members. Lucky for me the season just ended, so I won't have to do much until next year except get the website up. But they did give me a cool shirt. Thanks GJ for the birthday card--it got to me right on my birthday! Now I really feel like a putz that Trevor's was a month overdue! I better put Darcy's in the mail today. And maybe yours too. LOL

Mother's Day & Michelle's B-day
posted by Kristen on May 8, 2008 @ 7:33AM
Hello, long lost family! Just thought I'd throw out there that Mother's Day is this Sunday. Looking for a gift idea? I hear that there is a new Neal Diamond album out there! We'll have to add Michelle to the birthday list. Her birthday is, ironically, this sunday, mother's day. Hope everyone is doing well! I'll see you soon for Marc's graduation/Michelle's shower!

Mom and Dad's anniversary gift part 2
posted by Kristen on June 10, 2008 @ 11:46PM
I have an updated idea for Mom and Dad's anniversary gift, still using the picture theme. How about getting one of those digital photo frames, and uploading it with tons of family pics? Let me know what you guys think. I plan to go home the last week of June to collect pics and transfer what I can into digital format. I know we had mentioned doing something like a movie, but I'm thinking that that is so similar to what Geoff had done with Grandpa's trains that maybe we want something a little different. If you guys like it, I'll need someone to volunteer to buy the digital photo frame. You guys are better than me at researching good ones and finding a deal. I'd be curious to know if any exist that could be engraved as well. Also look through your digital and hard photos and send me any that you think would be good to include. I think those suckers can be uploaded with 100+ photos. Another idea: they've been on a wine kick. They sell nice wine coolers meant to keep wine at the perfect temperature (the fridge is actually too cold). Where they will put it is another question....in the dining room? These are several hundred dollars typically....maybe about $300 or so. (or we could save this idea for Christmas) Thoughts?? If anyone else has ideas speak up!
