At 4:55AM EST, SpaceX's Dragon capsule will lift off on a mission to rendezvous with the International Space Station (ISS) on a resupply mission. Read more about it here.

Is this a big deal? You better believe it. To date, only the Russian and US space agencies have docked with the ISS. This would be the first private company to do so--a big first step on truly opening the skies up for humanity at large.

Here's to hoping for a successful launch!

americanselect.org

Check this site out. I came across it in a Yahoo News story. These guys are attempting to put a candidate of online choose on to the ballet of EVERY state. I would encourage you to take a look at this. I signed up for it, and it is legit. They do some good verification to ensure that ONLY registered voters may vote.

I don't know if it will be enough to work in all 50 states or not, but I like the concept and I think the more support we can give it, the more likely future votes might be influced by such technology.

So it turns out, the majority of acacademic studies done on cancer are basically bogus. These studies are what the big pharmaceutical companies like to use to figure out what to study next in terms of cancer treatments. For grins, several of them decided to vet these studies, and found less than 25% were actually reproduceable in the lab. WTF??

Literally, one study writer was told that the lab had conducted 50 tests without any sign of success--and the study writer in turn told the lab that they had done the trial six times, it worked only once, and they published the positive result becase it made for good report.

The really bad news? This isn't limited to cancer research. See the article for all the gory details.
