That said, the upper stick block is hardly predictable, and probably has cost Quickie a few goals over the years. It's certainly bitten me on occasion.

And then there's the time I was day-dreaming while an opponent zoomed down in on me and shot it right past me. I went with the "I forgot which side I was playing for" excuse. It does tend to work due to the way the goalies switch ends after each mini-game in the session (first team to three goals wins). Still, it was pretty funny.

Seriously? Huh. I did a totally scientific study - for a lunch that I was providing for a few of my managers and some Italian managers from Fiat, I bought a 6 pack of Diet Coke, a 6 pack of Coke Zero, and two 6 packs of Coke. 5 Coke Zeros were taken, followed by a Coke, a Diet Coke, the last Coke Zero, then 2 more Cokes, then the rest of the Diet Cokes. From my highly scientific study, Coke Zero is king, followed by Diet Coke, then Coke. Pepsi must be one of the worst selling pops in the country, since I did not even choose to include it in my study.

However, the next day, I added Coke Zero Cherry, Mountain Dew, and Diet Mountain Dew. Coke Zero regular and the Dews went the quickest. Coke Zero Cherry was not well subscribed. Shockingly, one of the Italians drank a Diet Dew. I wonder if he was just trying it, or if they actually are selling it overseas now. I never could find it when I was in Europe.

Down in the south, they pretty much add to the soda/pop debate by calling all sodas "coke." So you'll have idiots say things like: "Can I have an orange coke?" But the king down here is sweet tea, and if you've ever had true sweet tea, you know why we call it the kidney stone belt.

My preference is Coke > Pepsi, but regarding most other sodas in their lines, I find Pepsi makes better alternatives. And Mountain Dew is obviously the best, there's no debate there.

Southern sweet tea is awesome, but I drink Coke Zilch for a reason.

That said, the ultimate drink in the universe, bar none, is Blenheim Ginger Ale #3. It eats sodas like Mountain Dew for breakfast.

You guys are nuts. I would drink Pepsi over coke any day of the week. Coke loses it's flavor about 30 seconds after you open it. Forget 2 liters, you've got one crack at drinking it and if you don't finish, throw it out. On the flip side, I'm pretty sure you could preserve a cadaver with Pepsi and bring them back to life with MDew.

I will say though, Coke's "Vault" was a tasteful alternative to MDew that I actually really enjoyed. I guess I was the only one since they no longer sell it.

GJ, Ginger ale's sole mission in life is to ease stomach bugs, any other reason to drink it is shear madness. Bring some of that ale home next time though so I can at least try it.

Pepsi hands down IMO. MDew is the greatest SODA beverage ever invented. I'm pretty sure aliens had a hand inventing it.

Coke losing it's flavor after being opened? You doth have no taste. If you like Pepsi warm, that's your business.

Ginger ale, my friend, is a common mixer with liquor. And you have both tried it before, years ago. I seem to recall you both hiding under the bed for a week after the fact.

Mountain Dew? Their Pitch Black variety was very good, and Code Red is pretty good. Still not Coke, much less Blenheim.

The problem with the Blenheim is it has the burn of liquor, but none of the hilarious after affects. Nonetheless, being a guy, I will search for it locally down here so we can all suffer through it again when we see each other next.

i will agree with Geoff on the coke flavor being lost, although I tend to only notice it with 2 liters over the course of a couple days. Never had that problem with Pepsi. I do not agree on the ginger ale though, a mild ginger ale is quite tasty on its own (Mixed with liquor can be good too).

The elusive Mountain Dew Livewire is probably one of the best, but classic dew (especially warm) is probably my favorite.

it is if it contains alcohol. You end up drinking more and more of it...which temporarily is fun, but often gets you in trouble later on.

I do like Ginger Ale myself, but I don't drink it often...unless I don't have much of a choice or I have a stomach bug.

Have you guys tried the new Dew out? I think it's like Mountain rush or something...but I found it in a diet! Finally! I grow a wee bit tired of the diet regular dew (just doesn't compare to regular dew).

The temporary burn is a good indicator that you probably won't regret what your doing in the morning. It's when you don't feel the burn anymore that you should be concerned... :)

I haven't seen the new Dew, they keep coming out with ones that people vote on, I'll have to look for that one. The last one I tried was some clear one, like White Out or something, and it was pretty good. I also love the "new" Throwback version with the real sugar in it.

Warm mountin dew? Eh, it's ok, but nothing beats a crisp, cold, mountain dew, OUT OF A CAN. Period. Especially on a hot day. Bottled it is not nearly as good.

A close second is Livewire. I do love that stuff, but it's a bit too sweet.

I'll never believe ginger ale soothes stomach aches. I remember after the surgery on my nose, I was feeling a bit queezy, and the nurse gave me ginger ale to "sooth my stomach..." I puked almost immediately.

Ginger can ease stomach ailments a bit. There isn't enough ginger in ginger ale, even Blenheim, to come close of offsetting the effect of the sugar on your tummy.

Oh, and soda is best out of glass, not a can. Imagine saying beer tastes better in a can. Soda blows served in plastic.

Ahh, but the beer snobs are beginning to say just that. They are saying that cans lock in the flavor, and that the seal is tighter than a bottle cap. Cans also prevent beer from being exposed to light, and that is one factor in beer breaking down. Craft brewers are putting their beer in cans instead of bottles.

I don't think you will find one Catholic Baumbach that thinks the Catholic church is correct 100% of the time. I sure don't. I like the values the church teaches, but not everything coming out of Rome is perfect. Do you know if Darcy's overclocks itself? It is a killer chipset. I'm blown away how fast this thing is. The new SSD drives now support TRIM which is supposed to improve reliability. Honestly, the only thing I've got on this SSD is the OS itself, it's not a large drive so all my client files reside on separate drives (I've got it backed up on 2 external drives, and 2 internal drives...so I'm pretty well covered).

The SSD is quite new so this was more of a test to see how well it works. I ripped the internal HD that came with my laptop and installed it in a Seagate GoFlex external enclose which is super tiny. Great portable solution. The only problem I am really having is trying to get the proper expresscard so I can get superfast speeds (USB 2.0 isn't real great)

I first tried a slim eSATA expresscard, but it wasn't powered so it would not boot my external drive (which is powered by the connect cable). Then I tried USB 3.0 expresscard but that didn't provide enough juice either (which it had a 5V port to boost power, but of course, no cable). So this time I ordered a USB 3.0 expresscard WITH the cable. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I'm interested to see how the new Thunderbolt port will play out. I used that port to send a HD video signal to a 2nd display but it is quite quick for file transfer too. I imagine the drives for that early on will be expensive. Overall though, a nice piece of equipment.

No, it doesn't overclock itself. However, that's more of a software upgrade than a hardware spec. In other words, the CPU isn't new, it's just enhanced a bit with custom code (likely at the bios level, not the OS). We're not at the point we need to really be thinking about overclocking Darcy's laptop (which actually dates back more than a year, as Darcy reminded me yesterday), as the CPU is hardly the bottleneck on the machine. Windows 7 is. :)

Sounds like a nice machine, but knowing how Apple overprices the crap out of things, I'm guessing this was at least $1500, likely even more.

My story--we did this to the elected town officials in Glenville many years ago, because of their fiscal mismanagement. However, we did it with the voting booth. Why do we need a different way to do this?

LOL. Still, even if you don't like unions, that's no way to go about knocking them down a peg. I hate to Godwin, but I'll be damned if this Nazis didn't use this same strategy after the Reichstag fire (which they set, of course).

It's not a new concept, by any stretch--I just can't believe how many people, Republicans especially, that don't see this for what it is--a naked power grab that is totally beyond the reach of the electorate.

This is a pretty cool video, although it tends to more describe fractals than infinite series. Of which, I just found out an employee of IBM was the first guy to come up with the term "fractal." Not the idea of course, we just try to take credit for that by association. :)

Yea, Mandelbrot was there from like 1955-1990 if I recall correctly. Worked in the research center where you see things like Deep Blue and Watson come out of (a.k.a. The cool part of IBM).
