Coke is now God, that is all.

Diet Coke has overtaken Pepsi (not Diet Pepsi, mind you, but honest to goodness Pepsi) as the #2 selling beverage in the States, right behind the King of Soda, Coca-Cola. Don't you dare call it pop, either.

Catholics, beware of who you donate to!
posted by GJ on March 17, 2011 @ 11:55AM
Apparently, at least in North Dakota, Catholics aren't to donate to groups like CropWalk, Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure, UNICEF, and Amnesty International, amoung others, because they have some kind of support (direct or indirect) for contraception, abortion, equal rights for gays, or stem cell therapy / research. This, based on a fatwa issued by two bishops in North Dakota recently. Did it occur to them WHY, for example, UNICEF and CropWalk would support something like contraception? Or the Komen Foundation persuing stem cell research? Amnesty for gay rights? Oh, I get it--if the big bad church can convince enough followers to stop donating, they'll change their tune. Um, don't hold your breath. Anyhow, the article is here: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/196958/publisher_ID/40/ Wonder if this'll catch on around the country.

The New Portable Workstation
posted by Geoff on March 11, 2011 @ 11:20PM

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ You are looking at the new sheriff in town, and this sheriff resides with me in Rochester. For any technology lover, this is one hell of a machine. It not only is faster than my quad core workstation in EVERY aspect (video editing, 3D rendering, Application response) it took on the Xeon 8-core Mac Pro's from last year and beat them in a few tests. This thing is sick. 17", 8MB LS3 Cache, 2.3Ghz Quad Core, Hyperthreading simulates 8 cores, with speed boost that automagically overclocks this baby from 2.3GHz to 3.4Ghz on demand. 8 Gigs of Ram, 1GB Video Card and separate onboard graphics card to save battery power, Solid State Hard drive delivers unprecedented application response (aka, I was able to open every single Adobe Application in the time it took my co-workers Macbook Pro to open just Photoshop). This is one Mac, even a die-hard PC'er can't dis...and if I want, I can dual boot this with Windows or Mac and switch between the two OS systems without restarting. Welcome my friend...welcome.
