You're starting to sound like Geoff! :) Before long, I expect to see TL;DR

Actually, I was hoping to see a TL;DR with an appropriate summary. :)

how is he turning to the darkside? I mean, he is just a Republican who actually has some common sense and some balls to stand up for it. He is in no way promoting Dems, he is just stating the obvious in many regards. It is a long read on the Internet, my eyes hurt. Then again, stuff as complex as this would fill a few books.
I still think they should throw everyone out of office. And he did get one thing right, the people that like conflict typically win out over the folks who don't. I'm just waiting out for the rest of society to catch up with me and watch Washington burn. That said, we really can only blame ourselves for electing these idiots by not voting.
We're just watching a train wreck in slow motion here.

The easiest way to "throw the bums out" is to impose draconian term limits--one term per office, no exceptions. You'd get a far greater number of people involved in government, far more ideas to bring to the table, a much more energized populace in government, and a reduction in the power of lobbyists--be they for big business, big labor, big religion, whatever.

Horrors, I recommend more eye-hurting reading, too. Check out "A More Perfect Constitution" by Larry Sabato. I certainly can't say that all 23 of his recommendations are a good idea in my book, but many have merit and you may get some concrete ideas on how to make government better as well. Change will come when enough of us get all PO-ed at the government. Between OWS and the Tea Party, I think there's enough anger out there--just needs to be funneled into something productive...like a constitutional convention!

I agree that term limits need to be installed, especially on the senators. 2 terms maximum.
I like to think you will see a large change in congress over the next few years - I hope that people are getting as fed up with their performance as I am. I only wish the supercommittee could have come back with their results one week before the election - that would have sealed their fate.
You all know that I am a conservative. That said, I don't agree with much of what the republican party is doing. I don't agree with much of what the democrats are doing either. I'd love to abolish the party system and just have people run on who they are.
BTW, I voted for president back in 2008, and I didn't vote for the crazy couple from Arizona and Alaska.
Those that call Obama an ultra left wing are idiots. He's a fairly conservative democrat, and I think he's doing a lot of good things. All the crap the Republicans are saying about how he hasn't fixed the economy - uh, the economy isn't back where it was back in 2005, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was in 2008/2009, despite all of the trickle down economic turmoil in the rest of the world!
The Republicans are doing a good job of shooting themselves in the foot. If they really think all of these public debates sparing between their own candidates helps their case, they are just stupid. But then again, it does provide me some good humor to watch them, especially since not one of them has a chance of defeating Obama next year.

Wow, we agree on something here! Mark this in the history books.

Wrong variety of doctor.

Thank you Carl Sagan?

Wrong again, but closer. Try: Thank you, Unabomber. I give props to anyone who figures this one out--other than Darcy, who knows quite well how my warped mind works and probably already figured it out.

Well forget it, I rescind my thank you and further more see to it that we never speak of this again. Good day to you sir.
