So I was driving home today and I heard a couple songs that need to be added to Rockband II.

Both of those would definitely be expert level songs, but they are freaking awesome. Just don't ask me to play drums on either of them....

Steve your suggestions were great and actually Metallica's "One" is in Guitar Hero 3. But it should definitely be in Rock Band.

I'd like to see anything by Steve Vai. And then see Marc play it, since I know I won't be able to.

All I can say is, the game needs more Who. And that song from GH3, Avalancha. That song is freaking awesome.

Speaking of more Who, the first album slated for download for this game in The Who's "Who's Next". Yay!

It's being released for the Wii on June 22. Not sure if it's as clipped off at the knees as much as the PS2 version (which has a sucky version of World Tour Band compared to the PS3 and XBOX360), but like the PS2 has no downloadable content. That may change, as at least the Wii has the potential.

Whats diffferent about World Tour Band on PS2 vs the other's? Just curious....I thought it was just unable to download new songs.

How could they make the Wii not have downloadable content? That's probably one of the best features about it and the Wii has all the capabilities there. Is there any mention of online play? Because Xbox360 and PS3 can also let you play Rock Band multiplayer over the internet, which is sweet.

For the Wii, they say that it's likely coming in the future, but won't be ready at launch. Same thing was said about GH3, and downloadable content still has no target date that I know of for that title. The problem isn't so much the net connection--it's the total lack of storage on the unit. There is no hdd--it's all flash memory, and not a whole lot of it. So, everyone is waiting for Nintendo to upgrade the OS to handle an external, usb-based hdd that can be accessed by games to address it.

As for the PS2 differences, the Wiki page on Rock Band has this to say:

"Band World Tour" is the game's primary multiplayer mode. It allows any combination of 2-4 local players to create a virtual band, play gigs, and tour a virtual representation of the world. Although online play is not supported for Band World Tour, players can use the "Band Quickplay" mode to play together as a band online; furthermore, Harmonix is attempting to resolve technical issues to allow Band World Tour to be played online. For the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, Band World Tour mode lets bands play in 41 different venues spanning 17 cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, New York, London, Sydney, Stockholm, and Rome. After choosing a band name and hometown city, the band members can create their own rock characters, as well as a band logo. Once setup is complete, the band can begin playing concerts in small venues in their hometown until they unlock vans, tour buses and private jets, which unlock more cities and different continents. Unlocking and completing new gigs unlocks additional songs for play across all game modes. Successful performances also earn the band fans (used as a metric of measuring the band's popularity), stars (which accumulate based on the success of each individual song performed), and in-game cash (which each player can spend at the "Rock Shop"). Most cities and larger venues require the band to achieve a certain number of fans and stars before they are unlocked. In the process, bands can loop through cities multiple times, eventually playing larger venues in cities they have already visited. In-game venues are inspired by real-life venues and often display local art styles from each of the represented cities.

For the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, rather than complete predetermined lists of songs (like in previous Guitar Hero games), players complete unique sets of activities at each venue. Performances consist of single songs, multiple song sets, "make your own" setlists, and mystery setlists. Players are also faced with decisions that Harmonix refers to as "risk-versus-reward." Bands need to choose which sized venue they perform at carefully, as a poor performance at a larger venue poses a greater threat of the band losing fans. For certain performances, bands are faced with an optional challenge that requires the band to average a certain amount of stars for their gig in order to reap the rewards. Bands can also choose to perform a benefit concert (earning no in-game money but garnering more fans) or "sell-out" (earning more in-game money but losing fans). Additionally, for certain gigs, bands can compete for band managers, roadies, security personnel, and sound guys, as well as a recording deal with a record label. The "Endless Setlist" becomes unlocked after completing several objectives within Band World Tour mode. Players will get to experience an all-day concert atmosphere, as the setlist requires playing the entire game disc's setlist from start to finish.

The PlayStation 2 version of Rock Band contains a much more stripped-down version of the Band World Tour mode, as 2-4 local players will only be able to play by completing predetermined tiers of songs ordered by difficulty. Players cannot create their own characters, nor can they choose a city, venue, or a setlist to play.

See? That's why I hope the Wii's version isn't just as stripped down. Also, the graphics should be more on par with the 360. The GameCube's video capability was better than either the PS2 or Xbox, and the Wii is significantly better than the GC (but not real close to the XB360/PS3 systems).

Just use the Guitar Hero I and II controllers and change the sound...they're about the size of a mandolin. Granted they would be missing about half the strings. :)

Confirmed--Wii version is a port of the PS2 version. Bad mistake, Harmonix and MTV games. Not going to be buying it as a result.

Oh, I need Weezer's Hash Pipe on one of these games. Better for Rock Band. Probably pretty easy, but a lot of fun.
