The Role of Democrats in Iraq
posted by Geoff on January 31, 2007 @ 11:03AM
Perhaps I've been missing something, but it appears to me that Democrats have no problem criticizing Bush and Republicans on their Iraqi policy, yet I hear no solutions to the problem from Democrats. I hear brief mentioning of bringing up talks with Syria and Iran to stop inciting violence in Iraq, but thats about it.
Perhaps one of you smart boys and/or girls would like to educate me on what their solution is to the problem...besides pulling out which doesn't solve anything except appeasing the American people in the short term.
I'm no foreign policy expert, but I don't think adding more troops is a horrible idea (at least not in the short term). I think we really need to step in there full-force and teach these Iraqi's to govern and protect themselves. We are certain Iran and Syria are a big cause of the continued violence and it is necessary to stop them. Not really sure how though.
I think victory is impossible in Iraq, we just need to contain as much of the damage we brought to ourselves as we can. That area has always been wrought with conflict and it isn't going to change by military might (unless of course you blew the whole are to pieces with a global effort of Nukes...hell even N. Korea can throw a few in there if they could ever reach it).

Oh, this is freaking hilarious. You gotta see this--well, ok, maybe not if religious humor isn't your thing (read: fundamentalists should probably avoid this).
Anyhow, check out the site here, it has links to YouTube for the four episodes.

Hillary Clinton makes it official: "I'm in. And I'm in it to win."
posted by Kristen on January 20, 2007 @ 11:37AM
Have you heard the news?! After years of debate (even though we all knew it would happen), Hillary Clinton has finally made it official that she is running for president. It's about darn time.
I think the political, economical, and emotional atmosphere of our country has churned up a "perfect storm" for Hillary. The blunders of Iraq will only serve to further her chances. If we were "winning" the war on terror (what ever that means, I don't think any American has the same definition), I don't think the American people would be able to look beyond the Monica Lewinsky scandal to vote for Hillary. But we're desperate for a huge change in Presidential leadership now--even a change in gender!
I've heard talk that Hillary has to first beat a formidable opponent: Obama. Forgive me for thinking like the average Joe Schmoe, but how in the world can we even think of electing someone whose name is one letter off from the man we consider the devil incarnate? No way Jose.
So in the words of our next President, "Let the conversation begin. I have a feeling it's going to be very interesting." Indeed.

Sylvia Browne strikes (OUT) again
posted by GJ on January 18, 2007 @ 2:16PM
If you watch Montel Williams' talk show regularly, you've probably seen Sylvia Browne. She's his favorite psychic. In reality, she's a cynical demonspawn that preys on the innocent. Here she is again, showing the world her true colors for all to see. Too bad the ones that need to see it will continue to believe her excuses and lies.
Intrigued? Check out the Stop Sylvia Browne site.
